How to make a BEER ADVENT CALENDAR

Flash back to last year when I made my Simon a beer advent calendar! I was very popular that Christmas!

We had lots of leftover cardboard tubes at work & I wanted to make use of them…it is actually quite easy & Pringles or postal tubes can be used

What you need:
• 24 tubes (long & wide enough to fit a bottle)
• glue gun
• brown & white paper
• black sharpie
• glue stick
• string & duct tape (optional)
• 24 beers (I replaced some beers with mini red wines & behind door 24 was a small bottle of single malt whiskey)

How to:

1) My tubes were 60cm long so I started by chopping in half with a hacksaw…

2) Starting from the top, glue the tubes together making sure they are lined up at the front…glue rows 1-6 by adding +1 tube each time to make a tree shape, glue 3 for row 7…

3) Cut out 12 x Kraft paper circles & 12 x white paper circles (draw round the end of a tube to get the correct size)

4) Cut 12 Kraft & 12 white smaller circles - 1/2 the radius of the large circle

5) Glue stick the small white circles onto the large Kraft circles & the Kraft onto the white

6) Use the sharpie to write numbers 1-24 on the small circles

7) Draw patterns like stripes, spots, stars, checks etc (see my photos for inspiration) onto the outside of the circles…

8) Stick the circles onto the front of the tubes with your glue stick - in order or random…I did a row of brown, then a row of white but the numbers were random.

9) Decorate the outside of your tubes with patterned paper or draw on some stars...

10) Tie some twine or ribbon around a few times to secure (optional)

11) Move calendar to where you want it to stay & fill with beer…or wine, sweets, choccies or gifts…

12) Scrunch up some Kraft paper & push into the back of each tube to stop bottles slipping out...

13) Enjoy! maybe open in the evening as a beer before work is not a great idea 😜
